Useful products: Light leave-in or sea salt spray, Small round brush or bang-friendly styling cream.
My wolf cut maintenance target is medium upkeep. I want visible layers on medium wavy hair, with curtain bangs, and I can realistically spend 5 minutes styling.
Planning Notes
Use Maintenance Calculator like a salon planning tool
What drives maintenance
The cut itself is not automatically high-maintenance. The demanding parts are short fringe, very choppy crown layers, fast-growing nape shape, and textures that need product to show separation.
Bangs usually need the most frequent trims.
Short wolf cuts lose shape faster than long soft versions.
Straight hair often needs texture product to avoid looking flat.
Curly hair needs curl care so the shape does not collapse or frizz.
How to lower upkeep
If the calculator feels too demanding, choose a softer first cut. You can always make the next trim choppier once you know how the shape behaves.
Choose curtain bangs instead of full bangs.
Keep the shortest crown layer a little longer.
Preserve more tail density.
Ask for a shape that still air-dries well.
What to schedule
Trim timing depends on how precise you want the silhouette to stay. The more defined the bangs and nape are, the earlier you should book the cleanup.
Full bangs: plan small trims every 3 to 5 weeks.
Short wolf cut: refresh shape around 5 to 7 weeks.
Soft long wolf cut: usually 8 to 12 weeks is workable.
